The Parent Circle
Fig. 01 - A search-led childcare marketplace for New Zealand parents and providers.

01 · The brief.

The Parent Circle set out to make childcare discovery less scattered for families. Parents needed to compare providers by care type, location, pricing signals and fit, without stitching together a dozen browser tabs.

Providers also needed a credible listing path that made their centre easier to find and understand.

02 · The friction.

Childcare decisions are emotional and practical at once. The product had to reduce noise without flattening nuance:

  • Parents compare philosophy, availability and cost at the same time.
  • Search filters need to be helpful without feeling like a database form.
  • Provider pages need enough detail to earn a shortlist.
  • Guides and cost tools need to support the search, not compete with it.

03 · The approach.

Search first. The hero becomes a useful tool: care type, suburb and keyword search are available before the first scroll.

Design for comparison. Listings and guidance are structured around parent questions rather than provider jargon.

Support both sides. Provider calls-to-action sit beside parent tools, creating a two-sided product without confusing the primary search journey.

04 · The outcome.

The product now gives parents a focused starting point and gives providers a clearer way to be discovered by local families.
